School transportation research can involve several separate steps: identifying the correct district, finding schools that serve a child's grade, estimating the route, locating the district's transportation rule, and asking the district for the official answer.

Round Rock ISD
Transportation is generally available at two miles or more from the assigned school. Some addresses within two miles may qualify under the district hazardous transportation rating system.
Austin ISD
Students generally qualify at 2 or more miles by the shortest route, with a hazardous-traffic exception for some students within 2 miles.
Houston ISD
Transportation is generally available to students attending their zoned campus who reside 2 or more miles away, with listed program and hazardous-route exceptions.
Dallas ISD
The standard transportation rule requires the student to live in the school attendance area and 2 or more miles from the school by the nearest practical route.
Katy ISD
Katy ISD uses a 0.5-mile elementary and 1-mile secondary straight-line no-transportation radius, plus a separate over-2-mile walking-path rule.
Frisco ISD
Transportation is generally available at 2 or more miles by the shortest traversable route, with specified roadway exceptions for elementary and middle school students.
Fort Worth ISD
Students within Fort Worth ISD generally qualify when they live 2 or more miles from their assigned school or an accepted Program of Choice school.
Plano ISD

What if a district is not yet verified?
The live Texas search can still match an address to its NCES district boundary and find nearby grade-appropriate public schools. When we have not yet verified a district's published transportation policy, we show that district verification is required instead of applying a guessed statewide threshold.
This keeps the tool useful for early home research while remaining clear about what still needs an official answer.
